2008 Scholarship Winners:
Ryan Jumper – Marion High School
I am a 2008 graduate of Marion High School in Marion, IN. Now a freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington, I am majoring in both Accounting and Finance through IU's Kelly School of Business and the Hutton Honors College. My first semester was successful academically, as I achieved a spot on the Dean's List with a 3.58 G.P.A. I've also been highly involved since coming to Indiana University. I'm a member of the Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary Societies, the Hutton Honors Student Association, and the Student Accounting Society. Also, I'm the treasure of my residence hall's honors council. Along with some other students from my residence hall floor, I am on intramural basketball and soccer teams. And I am also an indoor soccer official for intramurals during both the fall and spring seasons. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time thus far in college and look forward to the next few years at IU. I would like to thank the Bowen family and donors to the Bowen Scholarship for their contributions and hard work to give back to local high school seniors who exemplify the tremendous qualities that Collin Bowen demonstrated throughout his lifetime. It was an honor for me to be one of the first students to receive this award, along with Katie and Kelsey, in Collin's memory. Thank you and God Bless.
Thank You,
Ryan Jumper
.................................................................................... Katie Alter – Oak Hill High School
I am one of last year's recipients of the Bowen Scholarship. I grew up in Converse, IN where I graduated from Oak Hill High School in 2008. I am now attending Indiana University of Bloomington and I am currently majoring in Clinical Laboratory Science. IU is a great school to make new friends and to experience new things. I frequently take part in kickboxing classes and I am highly involved with our floor activities. I help put together floor meetings and gatherings. Overall it has been a great first semester and the second semester is just as much fun. The Bowen Scholarship helped me greatly when it came to my college expenses, so for that I must once again thank the Bowen family.
Thank You,
Katie Alter |
